Baby Bull calf #73

THE BULL CALF HAS BEEN LOCATED! God love his pea pickin little heart....he was up looking around trying to get a sip of momma milk and here comes the werid lady on a big green noisey thing interupting his morning....he wasn't having it. Wait till his little manhoods get a big rubber band around them and a earring in his ear! The new cows are bawling around....must have had calves on them right before the sale and they are missing their babies and upset....running the fence line...looking for them...sad but thats how it is....it would be harmful for them to allow the calves to stay with them any longer than 6-7 months.....the one old girl apparently is so upset that she thought maybe she would come after me! She will settle down but for now I am going to let her quietly graze and stay the H@#$ away from her mad self! Its a beautiful scene down in our bottom part of the farm this morning....steam/fog rolling up off the stream, cows grazing and when they breathe....looks like they are smoking....leaves are turning all kinds of colors...leaves that have fallen off are gracefully cruising down the stream and reflect off the sun....in a few months it will be muddy and cold and miserable so I am going to take advantage of this day and clean up around our cabin down there and make it more presentable for any "hunters" that decide to come and hunt and spend a night or 2....

Its raining men.....and it ain't hallelujah

I am up at 4 am worrying about this calf that was left behind in the field from its mommy...she "should" be able to find it after I let her into the meadow where he was left behind...I will go down and check about 6 am....God Bless its little black heart....and GB my poor husband that shrugged his shoulders and didn't see the issue....MEN are a species....and I am not sure its "human".......

Checked my email......had sent an email of medical receipts and such to my ex....hes responsible for 55% and me the rest. He informed me that the trips that the girls have to the dermatologist he isn't covering because he had acne back in the day and no one bought him medication...he just had to wash his face 3 times a day...GET REAL.....he said it isn't medically necessary....its not a medical condition....hello to you all that are reading this....he has been an ASS since the beginning of his existance.....which says a lot about me for getting wrapped up in that...but thats another story!.....Berkeley has a precaucerous mole that needs removed and a few others that are "Sketchy" and he really never addressed that in the email.....more worried about the $$$$$. He also informed me that he made his glasses last 2 years or more and they could just change out their lenses.....I hate him....why wouldn't you want the very best that you could provide for your children. See people....I have never ever given his half of medical receipts until this year...until I had been drug back to court so many times that I finally had it and decided...you want to pick about every little minor thing.....fine....heres what you owe buddy.....and now he sees that I am using the child support where it is to be used....I was accused of "your getting rich down there on my child support buying cows and f-450 trucks".....sure on 900 bucks a month! He has a child that is a year old and hasn't hit soccer/scouts/midget leagues/oh now you need glasses/growing at the rate of 400 mph a second and needs new everything because of the growth rate.....

I am a rock between 2 insensitive human beings......the question is...."IS THIS MAN STUFF?"....are they all jerks or am I just picking jerks? Don't get me wrong my current husband has fabulous qualities....he is an excellent provider and is very willing to pay for anything the girls need.....he's went above and beyond...but there is just a common jerk factor that they seem to have....like huffing around because the AIR CONDITIONER IS ON and its 48 degrees outside....."what do you mean your freezing"....life is maddening with men.....frustrating at best.

HI ho, HI ho, its off to the USDA office we go!

Yesterday involved a trip to the USDA office to check on the farms "status" in the EQIP program. This is a government funded program for farms to improve the land, and preserve the environment. Great cost sharing, sort of like "Welfare" for the farm. So at the USDA office we find out OBAMA has cut a lot of the farm funding, fortunatly our farm and contract with the EQIP is going to be spared and a barn we are building is only going to cost us about 5 grand out of pocket. We rotationaly graze our cattle and this program focuses on rotational grazing. We have built fence, seeded, fertilized/limed, put in automatic watering troughs...its been fabulous to upgrade this place. 174 acres has not been farmed in 50-60 years. ANYWAY!!! Today involved a trip to 2 local farms across the ohio line. They are dispersing some of the herd and we went to check out the stock to see if there are any new "babies" that want to come and live at Beech Bottom Farm. One sale is tomm morning and the other Monday morning. I love it when we add to the herd. The cattle really have personality and its interesting to see how the fit into the herd. Nothing dramatic happening today....lets see if we can keep it that way!

To Feed or Not to Feed...that is the question

Apparently, I have a baby alien growing off my head somewhere.///the stares I have received in the past 24 hours!! I would like my girls to learn a rare thing...responsibility. Now I know that isn't the trend that most parents roll with these days...but I thought I would step outside the normal boundaries of what is "cool" and work on the responsibility factor! I have asked the twins to feed their FFA/4-H steer projects every morning and every evening...can you believe it? Can you believe I had to gull to ask them to take care of their project that they will receive thousands of $$$ for next year? This requires the girls to wake a few minutes early each morning and take a flash light and walk to the barn. Each evening the process is similar. I know they are the only kids in america that has to get up a few minutes early and step in a molecule of mud and possibly get a little dirt under their fingernails....but doesn't this build the character of a person??
